Jaspal Bhatti Dies at 57
Comedian Jaspal Bhatti died in a road accident early Thursday morning. He was 57.
Mr. Bhatti was on a 40-day promotional tour for his upcoming movie “Power Cut” when the car he was traveling in hit a tree. The accident took place near Shahkot, a town in Punjab. His son Jasraj was driving, according to the police. The lead actress in the new movie, Surilie Gautam, was also in the car. The two were injured and taken to hospital in Ludhiana.
Mr. Bhatti, a qualified engineer, initially worked as a cartoonist before moving into television and films. His TV shows “Ulta Pulta” and “Flop Show” were particularly popular.
