World Series Game 1 Highlights and Analysis
Jhonny Peralta hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth for the Tigers, but it was far too little, too late. The Giants won the game, 8-3, and take a one-games-to-none lead in the World Series. We’ll be back tomorrow night with more live coverage.
Miguel Cabrera made a nifty play at third to rob Aubrey Huff to end
the eighth. A lot has been made about Detroit’s lack of defense this
year, but, aside from Austin Jackson’s mini-muff in the third and an
absolutely brutal throw to the plate from Delmon Young on Barry Zito’s
R.B.I. single in the fourth, Tigers fielders showed off some clean
living.
Detroit’s problems tonight weren’t subtle — they just weren’t
defensive in nature.
