Shadow Warrior review – first person slicerShadow Warrior (PC) Another blast from the first person shooter past gets the remake treatment, with an update to Duke Nukem 3D’s sword-wielding sister title. There’s something of a mini-renaissance going on for old school shooters at the moment. Not only is Wolfenstein getting a big budget reboot but now even the likes of Rise Of The Triad and Shadow Warrior are joining the party. It’s a bit bizarre that neither Doom nor Quake have been invited but then you could argue the trend is not so much for retro first person shooters, but for second-stringers in general. Shadow Warrior is in the same boat as recent remakes such as Castle Of Illusion and The Chaos Engine: it was relatively well received at the time but never considered a classic and is now of no real significance to anyone but the overly nostalgic.
